Every month, as we go to print, more events appear. So, although the July issue will be distributed tomorrow, here is a weekly update with just this week's events and new events that have appeared since then.

7:30pm Free. King’s Theatre, Film, PG, Comedy. In this remake of the classic French farce “La Cage aux Folles,” engaged couple Val Goldman (Dan Futterman) and Barbara Keeley (Calista Flockhart) shakily introduce their future in-laws. Val’s father, Armand (Robin Williams), a gay Miami drag club owner, pretends to be straight and attempts to hide his relationship with Albert (Nathan Lane), his life partner and the club’s flamboyant star attraction, so as to please Barbara’s father, controversial Republican Sen. Kevin Keeley (Gene Hackman).

Wed Jul 24 Moving a Forest

7:30pm King’s Theatre. Music. Theatre. Pay what you can. Moving a Forest is an interactive game-theatre about the forests. It explores themes of sustainable balance and ‘resource’ management amid the climate crisis. Spanning conversations from South Korea and Mi’kma’ki (Nova Scotia), this interactive experience asks us to reimagine our relationship with the Wabanaki Forest.

Sun Sep 29 Edward Scissorhands

3pm King’s Theatre. Dance Stage to Screen. Adult  $15.95 Youth Free Presented by New Adventures, Martin McCallum and Marc Platt, Matthew Bourne’s magical dance production of Edward Scissorhands has carved a place in the hearts of audiences world-wide since its premiere in 2005. Based on the classic Tim Burton movie and featuring the hauntingly beautiful music of Danny Elfman and Terry Davies, Bourne and his New Adventures Company return to this witty, bittersweet story of an incomplete boy left alone in a strange new world.

  • Games Galore Fridays (from Fri Sep 20) 2:30-4:30pm Digby Library Bring a friend or come and make new ones as we play board and card games. Drop in between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. This program is for all ages.

  • Fall Story Time Fridays (from Fri Sep 27 ) 10:30-11am Digby Library. Children 5 and younger and their caregivers can enjoy stories and other activities.

  • Rocket Shapes Scavenger Hunt – Jul 9 to 20 All day Digby Library. Children aged 3 to 8 can participate in a scavenger hunt to find paper shapes needed to make a rocket craft during open hours. They can assemble the rocket and try flying it.
