Sun Dec 22 Thane Dunn’s Elvis Christmas Special

7:30pm King’s Theatre. Live Music. $55 Adults $25 Youth. Two-time World Champion Thane Dunn and his Cadillac Kings are an Atlantic Canada favourite. Thane is known worldwide as one of the best in the business – so close to the real thing that he is endorsed by several people who worked and performed with the real Elvis. His shows are loved by young and old, extremely fun and high-energy.

Weymouth Library January Art Exhibition - Boats, Oceans & Flowers

This exhibit features the beautiful watercolours of artist Diane Nadon. Although she began painting in watercolours, she has enjoyed expressing herself in other media.

3-4pm Digby Library. Children aged 7-11 can explore the wonders of science through exciting, themed experiments. Register by Tuesday, Jan. 14 by contacting the library.


Thur Jan 23 – 25 Craft Supply Swap

Meteghan Library during open hours. Clean out your stash of craft supplies you’re not going to use and swap them for supplies you can use. Drop off unwanted, usable items during open hours starting Thursday, Jan. 23. On Saturday, Jan. 25, the swap will be open for everyone to take home some crafting goodies. Leftover items will be given to local organizations. Drop off only on Jan. 23 and 24.


Fri Jan 24 Family Literacy Day: Learn to Be Green Together

3 – 4pm Digby Library. Children aged 5 to 12 and their families can celebrate Family Literacy Day with exciting activities presented by Waste Check.


Tue Jan 28 Get Help Finding Work!

1 – 4pm Meteghan Library. A case manager from Nova Scotia Works (CDÉNÉ) will be at the library to provide help in finding employment, career options, building a resumé, and more.


Wed Jan 29 Food Insecurity in our Communities

2 – 3pm Digby Library. Join Public Health Nutritionists Jane Cunningham and Heather Baillie to learn about the root causes of food insecurity, dispel some common myths, understand the current situation in Nova Scotia and the Tri Counties, and discuss strategies to improve food security in our community.


Wed Jan 29 Digby Book Club

6:30 – 8pm Digby Library. Join Colleen Humbert for a lively and in-depth discussion of recent Irish novels. This month’s choice is Nora Webster by Colm Tóibín.

Fri Feb 07 Josephine: A Burlesque Cabaret Dream Play

7:30pm King’s Theatre Burlesque, Musical, Theatre. $35 The international award-winning one-woman biographical musical that combines cabaret, theatre and dance to tell the story of the iconic Josephine Baker, the first African-American international superstar and one of the most remarkable figures of the 20th Century. Tymisha Harris stars in this dazzling retelling of Josephine Baker’s revolutionary life as singer, movie star, WWII spy, civil rights activist, and cultural icon.


Sat Feb 15 Stephen Fearing

7:30pm King’s Theatre. Live Folk Music. $30 Adult $15 Youth. Through a life of many relocations and countless months on the road performing, Fearing has become a gifted storyteller and true musical nomad with the ability to enthrall audiences of all sizes and attitudes. “Getting on stage is the fun part, especially when the adrenaline kicks in,” he says, with a broad smile. “People want to escape and be taken on a journey. I build my shows so they do just that.”


Sun Feb 16 Duo Beija-Flor

3pm King’s Theatre. Live Classical Music. $30 Adult. $10 Youth. Flute and guitar duo, Duo Beija-Flor, presents a dynamic and accessible repertoire of classical works inspired by the many diverse cultures found around the world. This fresh and modern style they call ethno-classical highlights the emotions and experiences we all share, expressing them through the lens of music.


Sat Feb 22 Suburban Struggle

7:30pm King’s Theatre. Stand-up Comedy. $30 Adult $10 Youth. When Mother Nature sent a tornado through his neighbourhood, he gave a TEDx talk on resilience and using humor as a coping mechanism. Discovering he could make a real impact through laughter, he combines stand-up comedy with music, connecting with audiences in performing art centers, clubs, cruise ships & corporate events all over the world. Join us for a night of laughter and entertainment while Rory untangles life in suburbia, raising kids, marriage, aging parents, dogs & mother nature.


Fri Feb 28 Aerialists

7:30pm King’s Theatre. Live Music. $35 Adult/ $10 Youth. At one moment, a prog-rock band, the next an Irish-Scottish-Norwegian trad band, then an experimental indie-jazz band, then somehow all of these at once, Aerialists have alchemized diverse influences into a sound with striking clarity. It’s ethereal yet precise, technical yet visceral. Formed nearly a decade ago by harpist Màiri Chaimbeul, fiddler Elise Boeur, and guitarist Adam Iredale-Gray, now with three albums and a JUNO nomination under their belt, Aerialists have staked their claim on the leading edge of the neo-folk world.
